Hyper shapes: These shapes are embedded in my practice the way they are embedded in my thoughts and love for black movement.

I live and expand through these geometries.

It's about expressing my understanding of how movement, space, scale and distance inform my perception of world building in both big and small ways.

Also, perception is not an automatic process; it is created, tuned, composed over time.  It made sense to turn this piece into a time based work unfolding my conscious and unconscious perceptions of black liberation movements at every scale.  From the molecular to the material to the phenomenological.

If qualities of space influence our minds and bodies then how can I make a space of interaction to that holds histories of black motions in the highest regard.

Notes:

Hyper shapes

An aggregation of self-similar forms; fugitive things.

Light, air, space, solids, dynamic, ritual, functional, indeterminable, composition-disposition, silence, responsive, run, quiet, quietness.

Black Clouds

Who are you after swallowing the ocean and all of its light?

An enclosure of slow violence?

A chamber of waves and Black Clouds?

You swallowed the triangle, the distance, and the unknown.

The howling light years are in your body now.

Echoes of sorrow and steel adhere to each blood vessel.

An intermolecular force of blue.

And your arms are blurs of ships

You try holding emancipation to your damp chest

No time for drowning, you live on

with the dampness of the ocean,

with dripping spacious hands and brutal horizons

Soaked in discontinues Blackness

You can now spit light

This is where the glory is

The ongoing

The deep swallow changed you

Your old self is a tide inside your new self.

Breathing in a new liquid belonging

You lift your fingertip to see the cumulus energy of black being

You take that finger and make a mark, a dig, a scratch

You draw hauntology

A multi-scalar condition with an incompressible fluid

This new self is all chance and heat

Chance as form

And uncertain, indeterminable being of blue

A new demography

A new watercolor

Think about weight and scale. Stipule

Models

I've been exploring  drawing and painting through stop animation.  I'm excited about the opportunity to make a piece for this project.

I read this quote often and I've been paring it with these drawins.

"The model that I am proposing would be based on a theorization that melds various aspects of the human sciences and a mode of culture analysis for which we currently have no name, but one might think of it as a cultural demography; this new "science" would be alert to the cultural implications of movement, which is not only a primary meaning of the life-world but one of its most significant literary trope--the "symbolic geography" that would explain (1) diasporic movement, (2) internal migration, and (3) the mechanisms of fantasy and ambition that contextualize African American struggle."

process/all love

In process: no words to describe how this feels. Agnes Martin Speaks of beauty, Alice Walker speaks of being her true self.  Follow the women.
